Burning Challah Outside Israel

Is there a requirement to burn chalah taken from dough, or can one just throw it out? This question is for the US.

What is the correct blessing for the hafrashah

Answer:

In the US, it is sufficient to wrap the chalah in a wrapper, and throw it out with the garbage, in a manner that nobody will come to eat it.

The blessing is: Boruch atah… ashe kideshanu… lehafrish chalah. Some add the words min ha’isah.

Sources: Shulchan Aruch (YD 352) writes that challah outside Israel must be burned, however, nowadays there are many leniencies that apply to challah outside Israel, and it would appear that the custom to simply throw it out (respectfully) is not mistaken. See Teshuvos Vehanhagos, 1:670, who also validates the custom.
