The Shield of David

What is the Shield of David all about?

Answer:

The Shield of David is a six pointed star commonly recognized as a Jewish symbol. It is not a religious symbol but rather is associated with the Jewish people (especially after the holocaust, in which the Jews were forced to wear a yellow Star of David as a badge of shame.). The expression “Shield of David” is actually found in a blessing, which is recited after the reading of Haftarah (the reading from the prophets which follows the reading from the Torah on Shabbat), and refers to God who is the protector of David as well as the entire Jewish nation.
