Zivchey Teruah (Sacrifices of Joy?)

ZIVCHEI TERUAH is translated as SACRIFICES OF JOY. I thought teruah referred to the blowing of the shofar, one of the sounds of the shofar, yom teruah etc. A calling to Hashem to hear our prayer, and a calling to come to shul for prayer. Why sacrifices of joy?

Answer:

Teruah does mean blowing the shofar. However, blowing the shofar itself can be a expression of joy, as in “hari’u la-Hashem kol ha’aretz”.

In the verse you mention (Ps. 27:6), some commentaries understand the words to mean “sacrifices of joy,” whereas others write that it means “sacrifices of song” or “calling.” Metzudos Zion combines the two, and explains that it means “in a calling voice of joy.”
