Calendar of G-d

What is the true calendar of G-d? How do we apply it in our current calendar?

Answer:

It can’t be said that G-d has a calendar, for time is only one of His creations, and He is “above” the concept of time.

However, the calendar that He gave to the Jewish people, by which we are obligated to live our lives, is the lunar calendar.

Yet, there is also an obligation to keep the lunar calendar synchronized with the solar year, which we achieve by means of the leap year (this year is a leap year, with two months of Adar).

Each of the calendars has great spiritual significance. The lunar calendar is an expression of constant change, the moon changing every day. The sun is an expression of constancy and consistency, without displaying any change. A person must seek to merge both aspects: to be consistent, working each day towards a purpose, yet to be always changing, always growing, always developing.

Best wishes!
