Relying on Miracles

Nowadays should a person still rely on miracles? And is it bad/good to rely on miracles?

Answer:

One should not (indeed, may not) rely on miracles. The Gemara teaches that whatever a person wishes to achieve, must be achieved by means of personal effort, together with prayer to Divine assistance. One without the other is not sufficient. The Gemara also states that one should not rely on miracles (Pesachim 64b), and also states that somebody for whom a miracle was done (a man who nursed his infant) is not worthy of praise, because Hashem does not desire to change the natural order. Another passage of the Gemara states that somebody who received miraculous sustenance lost a portion of his reward for the world to come.

Therefore, one should certainly not rely on miracles.
