Items Left in House

If I rent out a house and the old tenant leaves food or other items, am I allowed to take it or do I have to search and find the owner?

Answer:

If the owner is known, it is preferable to call and ask him what to do with the stuff.

If the owner is not known, and the items are not of significant value, you can assume that having moved out, the tenant is not interested in the stuff, and take it for yourself.

However, if the items are of significant value, and/or are found in a hidden location, so that the old tenant was not aware of them, the tenant should be found and consulted.
