Evicting Tenant

If a renter is not able to pay due to his financial situation, and the landlord is in foreclosure, and the renter also is not able to find another house because of the financial situation–what options does the landlord have to evict?

Answer:

If the renter cannot pay the rent, the landlord has the halachic right to evict him from the property. The tenant should look for a property that is affordable in his circumstances. If the landlord is able to reach some arrangement of payment with the tenant, this is of course ideal, especially if the tenant will have trouble finding a different place. If it is not possible, he has the right to evict the tenant, and of course to claim payment for past unpaid rent.
