If the pitum of an esrog falls off, is it pasul? or not knosher l’chatchila?
Thank You, and Chag Sameach

Answer:

If a pitom falls off, the esrog is pasul. The disqualification is chaser, and the esrog cannot be taken on the first day of Succos.

If the pitom fell off as part of the growth of the esrog, the esrog is kosher.
