Monopoly on Aliyos

Is it permissable to call the same men to the Torah week after week because they give more money than others?

Answer:

There is no formal prohibition in this practice.

However, the Torah reading is for all, and all should have a chance to receive aliyos, the rich and the poor alike.

Those who pay extra can receive their recompense in special times of the year, special aliyos, or more frequent aliyos, but it is certainly wrong for a group of men to have a monopoly over the aliyos, to the exclusion of those of lesser means.

Best wishes.
