Congealed Olive Oil for Chanukah

I saw Rav Sternbuch write that the congealed olive oils are perhaps similar to wax in chelek 3 of his teshuvas vehanhagos. Should one go out of the way to buy the true olive oil and not the congealed olive oil candles to be yotzi mitzva min hamuvchar or do many argue with his oppinion and hold there is no difference.

Answer:

According to several poskim congealed olive oil has the status of regular olive oil, and it is considered mehudar for lighting Chanukah candles. I have cited these opinions here: https://dinonline.org/2011/12/18/congealed-olive-oil-for-chanukah/.

Therefore, although it might remain preferable to use liquid oil, one can certainly rely on these opinions and use the congealed oil.
