Making a bedikah and not looking at it has the same halachic status as not making a bedikah at all.
For the hefsek taharah, for the first day and the for the seventh day (and some mention the third day), a bedikah must be made, and the absence of a bedikah will invalidate the count. For other days one can be lenient even though the bedikah was missed.
