Kid Poured Milk into Cholent Pot

Someone woke up Shabbos morning and saw his child standing by the cholent pot with a plastic cup filled half the way with milk. The child explained that he wanted to make cheese from the milk and therefore put the cup of milk into the cholent pot then after he saw nothing was happening he took the milk out.

Inside of the pot there for sure was *not* shishim c’neged the cup of milk. What’s the din?

Answer:

In principle, the child is not believed, so there’s no problem.

Even if you know that the child is reliable, this reliability will not extend to how much milk was poured in.

Moreover, the entire story sounds incredulous (taking milk out of the cholent pot!?).

Therefore, there’s no problem.

If you’re really worried, you can give the child some cholent to taste (after explaining that it’s batel, to avoid chinuch issues), and ask him if it tastes of milk. If it doesn’t, then it’s certainly fine!

  1. Reasonable. However let’s say for a moment that it *did* in fact happen. What would be the din?
