My friend’s wife died on 9 B’Av. This year, does he observe yahrzeit on Shabbat, or is it postponed, as is the 9 B’Av fast, until Sunday?

For purposes of the yahrzeit, the day of Shabbos, which is the actual “ninth of Av” is observed.
Although the observation of the fast day is deferred to Sunday, the date itself does not change, and the yahrzeit depends on the date, rather than the event of Tisha Be’Av.
