Kohen’s Refusal to Accept Matanos

Is it “ossur” for a Cohen to say he doesn’t want to be makabel the matanas that one wants to give to him?

Answer:

Why should this be a prohibition?

Although there is a mitzvah to give matanos, there is no shortage of Kohanim to give them to, and if a Kohen for some reason does not want to accept them (perhaps he is fearful of his status, or of the responsibility to treat them with kedushah, and so on), I don’t see that any prohibition will be involved.

Best wishes.
