Someone prepared 50 servings of ice cream for a Sheva Brachos and realized afterwards that of the containers of ice cream used was a milchig container. L’maseh though there are rov parve ice creams neged the milchig ones. What’s the din l’maseh?
Answer:
If the ice cream is parev, the fact that the container is dairy does not make a difference, because there is no halachah of kavush with regard to solids (Peri Megadim 105:1; Shevet Ha-Kehasi 3:220).
If the ice cream itself is dairy, the containers will not be batel, because this is a davar she-be-minyan. Each container is sold separately, as distinct entities, so that they are not batel.
Best wishes.
