Avinu Malkenu Biychidus

If one needs to daven by himself on a day when Avinu Malkenu is recited, is it permitted to say Avinu Malkenu without a minyan?

Please send sources.
Thank you.

Answer:

Avinu Malkenu is not a davar she-bikdusha, and therefore it seems to be fine to say it even when davening alone. This is the ruling given by the Mateh Efraim (584:14), and by the Shelah. This is also the ruling of the Shvus Yaakov (3:42).

However, the Eliya Rabbah (584:5) mentions an opinion that it should not be recited alone, and this can be backed up from the Gemara, which mentions Avinu Malkenu specifically in the context of a shaliach tzibbur. Daas Torah also writes that it should not be said for somebody davening alone.

In practice, because there is no issue of an actual prohibition, one can be lenient and say Avinu Malkenu alone.
