My son who is 9 years old likes to bring his friend home (also 9 or older) with him at night to play. My husband is out of the city till late at night. I have three other children. Only one is between the ages of 6-9. Is there a problem of yichud, i.e. do you need 3 men or 2 shomrim at night?
Answer:
Although the general rule is that two shomrim are required at night, a son serves as a shomer even on his own.
Your children therefore serve as shomrim for you, and you need not be concerned for yichud under the circumstances.
