Question:

Are there any chometz concerns re rolling cigarettes on Chol ha-Moed Pesach (glue on papers)? Kasheren & frelichen Pesach!

Answer:

To my knowledge there is no problem today in rolling cigarettes on Pesach.

In past generations many authorities questioned the use of tobacco on Pesach, for fear that Chametz was mixed into it (see Magen Avraham  467:10; Shulchan Aruch HaRav 467:24; Mishnah Berurah 33; among others).

In later generations, however, it became clear that this was not a concern, and that even if chametz was mixed in it was entirely inedible, and smoking it does not constitute “achshevei” (see Mor U-Ketziah end of 442; Shut Chaim Shaal 2:38 sec. 83; Ha-Elef Lecha Shlomo 204-205; Divrei Chaim Yoreh De’ah 20 – among others).

This is also true of today, and therefore there is no special problem of rolling cigarettes on Pesach.

Best Yom Tov wishes.
