Kiddush Early on Shavuos

How early can one begin yom tov – can one make kiddush and hamotzi before prescribed candlelighting time?

Answer:

Many poskim write that for Shavuos one should not make kiddush early.
Unless circumstances are especially extenuating, one should be particular for this ruling.
Best wishes.
Sources:
The Peri Chadash (494) writes, citing from Masas Binyamin, that one should not make kiddush early on Shavuos.
This halachah is ruled by the Magen Avraham (494), and is likewise implied by the Shulchan Aruch Ha-Rav and by the Taz. The reason for this is that making kiddush has the same halachic status as davening maariv: both bring in Yom Tov early, and poskim write (see Shelah, Shavuos) that this should not be done on Shavuos, in order to ensure that the “days [of sefiras ha-omer] are complete”.

See also Yecheveh Daas (6:30), who writes that one should certainly try to be particular for this opinion, in particular in Israel, where doing so is not difficult.

The Kaf Ha-Chaim (639:7) rules that this applies even to Yom Tov Sheini, out of concern that they should be switched, but the Minchas Yitzchak (10:41) rules that one can be lenient in this matter, for the reason that the sefirah has already terminated.
