Is an employer allowed to deduct from the employees salary for coming late? Not just for the time missed. But the employer considers coming 15 minutes late the same as coming 3 hours late and deducts accordingly.
An employer can deduct from an employee’s salary based on the contract.
Under ordinary circumstances, a contract will include the number of hours an employee has to work, and missed time is deducted in proportion.
Of course, an employer cannot deduct from the salary arbitrarily, without any connection or proportion to the salary and without a clear basis in the contract.
