Sleeping with Clothes Under Head

I read that the Gemara says that sleeping on clothing is kasha l’shikcha. There are beds that lift up for storage. There are also beds that come with drawers underneath. Does this mean one should not store clothing there?

Answer:

The reference in the Gemara (Horayos 13b) is to clothing under one’s head, meaning somebody who substitutes clothing for a pillow.

This should not be done (Kitzur Shulchan Aruch 71:5).

There is no problem, however, with storing clothes under one’s bed.

It is interesting to note that the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch (loc. cit.) also writes that a person should not sleep with clothes on (because of the ruach ra’a), but this idea is not mentioned elsewhere, and the general custom is not to be careful for this. See Shemiras Haguf Veha-Nefesh Vol. 1, pp. 345-346.

Best wishes.
