Berachah on Millet Bread

What bracha should be made on bread baked from millet? Shechakol or adama? Millet breads from the store often contain wheat flour as well, but in this case I bake the bread myself and I know that it 100% millet. Thank you.

Answer:

The correct berachah for break baked with millet flour is shekakol. The reason for this is that the millet has been ground, and therefore it loses its berachah of ha’adamah, and becomes shehakol.

This is similar to the berachah on cornflakes, which is shehakol because the corn is ground before the flakes are formed.

Best wishes.
