I am a mother of two young toddlers at home, and I need music to keep me going. Not slow music, but upbeat music to lift to mood and lighten the atmosphere. Is it ok to listen to lively music for the purpose of getting through the day? Growing up, my father held that recorded music is fine, but I don’t trust him in many things so I’m not sure whether this is correct or not.

Waiting to hear from you,
Thank you

Answer:

It is fine to listen to all music for this purpose if this is required to keep you functioning at 100%.

In this case the music will be “therapeutic” in helping you to “get through the day,” and therefore no prohibition applies.

Please see here and here for sources on this matter.

Best wishes.
