Using Newspaper for Lighting Fire

can we use the Hamodia newspaper as starter for a fire?

It contains Hashem’s name many times in every edition…

and if not, how do you dispose of print… not sefer’s just commercial print where the Ribono Shel Olam’s name is printed.

kol tuv

Answer:

The word “Hashem” does not possess any holiness, and there is no problem in disposing of it.

The problem only arises where there are Divrei Torah in the newspaper, in which case the relevant page should be treated respectfully.

In general, these pages are set aside in a special section, and it is fine to use the regular section of a newspaper for lighting the fire.

Please see here for the question of whether or not a newspaper requires genizah.

Best wishes.
