Singling out Ruth

In chaptyer II of Ruth, Boaz singles Ruth out for special attention from his workers. In front of all the other gleaners. Doesn’t this violate the laws of modesty in giving tzeddakah?

Answer:

On the contrary, the Midrash notes that Ruth was distinctive for her modesty, and this is why she was singled out. Not every “singling out” is an infringement of modesty, and Ruth was singled out for her special attributes.

Best wishes.
