Leaving Siddur Open

I tried to send this question before , but I’m not sure it went through so I’m trying to send it again. How long is of a break from looking in a sefer requires the sefer to be closed ? Must a siddur also be closed when not in use ?If one started davening from a siddur , then closes his eyes for a specific part of the davening(like shmone esrei), should he close the siddur and reopen it?Is there any preference when wearing tfilin to have eyes open or closed? Also, is 1 or 2 doorposts (when the door is open or partially open )considered a separation that allows one to pray next to the bathroom ?

Answer:

The basic principle underlying this issue is that leaving a Sefer open is considered disrespectful to the Torah content. Therefore, the amount of time that one must be careful for is determined by what would be seen as disrespectful.

Thus, a siddur should be closed when not in use, but not during davening when the siddur is still effectively in use.

There is no special preference foe closing eyes while wearing tefillin.

It is permitted to daven outside a bathroom; one should refrain from looking inside.

Best wishes.
