The Shulchan Aruch (141:6) notes that although it is permitted to call up father and son for consecutive aliyos, we refrain from this out of concern for ayin hara. Commentaries explain that under circumstances where there is no concern, it is permitted. Either way, the concern is only for consecutive aliyos, and not for one after the other with a gap between.
