Divine Providence

If you want something really bad and you try pretty hard to get it but it ends up not happening, I know that everything is for the best and you should say “gam ze le tova”, but what if it wasn’t that Hashem didn’t want you to have it, what if it was just that He wanted you to try harder, how can you be lenient on yourself and just cop out and say this is for the best? How do you know if it just wasn’t good for you or if you just didn’t try hard enough?

Answer:

Having Bitachon and saying gam zu letova [all is for the best] does not mean one should “cop out”. It means in the present situation a person finds themselves in they feel comfort knowing that Divine Providence is guiding their life and that they are being given the tools and setting to reach their shleimus. This is not a contradiction to striving for more, working harder and growing. When something is ultimately out of one’s reach, that too is from Hashem, guiding one to the place they need to be, to accomplish their purpose in this word.
