Shalom, a friend called to ask you, regarding the keeping of the Sabbath, and she wants to know how she does to keep the Sabbath and she works for the period of the night 19:00 until 7:00, if her job requires that every day is this time, in her situation as it has to keep the Sabbath or she can not keep the Sabbath?
Answer:
Working on Shabbos would certainly be in contradiction to observing the Shabbos.
Working will include many of the Biblical and Rabbinic prohibitions forbidden to us on Shabbos, such as travelling by bus or car, writing,typing, using a computer, speaking on the phone, turning off and on lights, etc..
