What Foods Can be Kept Over Pesach

Question:

What kind of foods do we not have to throw out before Pesach?

Answer:

Any foods that do not contain chametz ingredients may be kept over Pesach. Even if they are not being used because they were used with chametz or they are kitniyos they may be kept over Pesach.

Any chametz product must be disposed of or sold to a non Jew and put away for Pesach.

Chametz products include anything containing: any of the five grains, alcohol, or malt [flavoring, vinegar or other malt product].

The custom is to make an official sale of chametz through a Rabbi just in case there is chametz in one’s possession, it should be covered by the sale [aside from the bitul chametz of Erev Pesach].
