What is the exact bracha on pizza is it mezonos or is it hamotzei or 1 slice mezonos 2 slice hamotzei? What exactly is the story with pizza? Can u give a shiur on it.
Answer:
We all know that the bracha on regular bread is Hamotzei. Never the less there are certain dough mixtures (pas haboh bekisnin) e.g a very sweet dough kneaded with fruit juice that are a sofek (doubt) whether their brocho is mezonos or hamotzei, because one does not normally make an entire meal from them alone. But if one never the less does decide to have an entire meal from these kinds one has to say hamotzei and bench afterwards. Since the pizza dough is kneaded with eggs, fruit juice or milk etc it falls into this category of doubt and therefore the bracha is mezonos. But if one decides to eat 2 slices that is considered an entire meal by itself and the bracha is hamotzei.
