Question:
If one’s mouth becomes extremely dry during davening (esp. when reciting the lengthy pesukei D’zimra on Shabbos), is there any heter to get a drink of water during davening, even though it is a hefsek (making a shehakol is a hefsek, as is the act of drinking)?
May/ should this be done only in cases of dire need, or even in a case of mild discomfort?
Answer:
Lechatchilo a person should not interupt in the middle of pesukey dezimra even by saying one word. But in the case of dire need one can interupt in between the paragrphs.
