Question:

Is it permissible to re-use glass food jars for storing dry food such as nuts or grains or leftovers from meals without having first been immersed in a mikvah? I am referring to jars originally used to store commercial food items which are normally disposed of after the food is eaten.

Answer:

There is a dispute amongst the poskim if a glass jar can be reused without  having first been immersed in a mikvah. Hagaon Reb Moishe Fenstein was of the lenient opinion.
