Question:

Can you please tell me if salads which use vinegar (along with sugar and/or mayonnaise), like coleslaw or hearts of palm & avocado, is OK for Rosh Hashana? The salad doesn’t seem to be bitter or sharpness particularly, although vinegar is one of the main ingredients.

Answer:

 

There are different minhagim regarding this , however the basic minhag is that it is permitted to eat foods that contain vinegar etc. as long as the food doesn’t have a sour or bitter taste.
