Question:
Is there any halachic ruling as to what age a girl must cover her legs with knee socks or tights? I’m not referring to tznius. My concern is till what age is it ok to say a bracha or daven in front of a child (girl) whose legs are uncovered.
Does it state anywhere in the shulcan arech? Please provide sources if there are any. Thank you!
Answer:
The Mishna Berura holds that it is from age 3, as this is the age that she is raui l’biah regarding yichud etc. the Chazon Ish zt”l held that the age depends on when she looks like a girl, and not just a baby. The general consensus of this age is 6-7.
