Question:
Dear rabbi,
There was no rabbinic precaution that I noted on my online searches this year to avoid looking at an eclipse through protective lenses. Should we consider this a future concern if any jew accidentally looks directly at the eclipse?
It would seem that we missed an important chance to heal Israel this year.
Thanks.
Answer:
We are commanded ,”Ushmartem Me’od l’nafshosheichem”, to be very careful about our health, however nowadays the rabbis generally don’t make enactments, especially to something that occurs vey seldom- once in a hundred years.
