Maaser to ones husband

Question:

My husband doesn’t support me financially. This arrangement began right at the start of our marriage. He recently asked me to pay for some of his medical bills. Since money is tight for me now, is it ok if I use my maaser money to pay for these bills or is it considered as if using his money and therefore not maaser?
(If I’m not mistaken according to the chazon ish if the husband doesnt support the wife right at the beginning of the marriage her money would not belong to him)

Answer:

You are right, since your husband doesn’t support you and this is the agreement since the beginning of the marriage, therefore your money is not his, but yours. Therefore you may give pay for his bills from your maser money if he doesn’t have enough money and is considered a poor person. In fact your husband is from the highest priority to give your tzedakah money.
