Question:

Is it true that a Jewish girl have to be married at 12 or 14? Some sources stated that Jewish girls were usually married in their mid teen years (some say early to mid teen years, while others say mid-late teen years) . Anyway, did the rabbis of ancient times commanded that a girl have to be married off at 12 or was it how young can she get married.

Answer:

Nowadays all the Jewish girls in the societies that I know, get married, or start looking to get married at age 18-20,and some a little later. It depends on the society, and what the norms of life are in that society. It might have been recommended, I can’t say, but as far as I know it was not commanded.
