Electronic couch

Question:

I recently bought a couch with a button on it that makes it recline, the only problem is that is electric. I was wondering if I can even sit on the couch on Shabbat. Thank you

Answer:

You may sit on the couch, because the electric part of the couch is not the main part of it. Therefore the couch is considered a kli shemilachto lheter, and not muktza. Asdie from this, it is permitted to touch muktza as long as we don’t move it. Understandably you may not use the button on shabbos and preferably it should be covered so that you don’t mistakenly press it.
