Kashering for Pesach

Question:

Regarding kashering a tea kettle for pesach – if there was some soapy water on the kettle when I kashered it, is that a problem of chatzitza?
Also, should the spout cover be open?

Answer:

Although l’chatchila the item being kashered should be totally dry and clean of any extraneous matter, if there was some soapy water on the vessel the kashering is still fine. This is because when the item was put into the boiling pot of water, and left there for a few seconds, the hot water will still penetrate the tea kettle, and kasher it.

The spout cover should be open when you kasher it so that the water can access the whole area of the spout.
