Receiving tzedakah from “non-kosher” money

Question:

May an individual/mossad receive tzedakah/maaser from a donor whom it is obvious he acquired his money through non-kosher means. For example maaser from a business venture that he operates on Shabbos or from lending with ribis, etc.

Answer:

It depends on how the money was acquired and how much of the persons money is from forbidden money. If it is only part of his money is because he operates his business on shabbos, it is not going to prohibit taking money from him, because most of his money is from sales during the week and not from shabbos, and it isn’t evident that the money is from a forbidden source. However, if his business is from lending and accepting ribbis from Jews, or that you know that the money is stolen, then you should not accept it. .
