Answer:
The reason we don’t eat uncovered water or wine is not because it is unpure, but because a snake might have drank from it and it might have put poison into the water. This halacha generally does not apply nowadays because many rishoniim say that since we don’t have snakes around us nowadays that we don’t have to be concerned about this.
