Question:
Can an older Ashkanazi single male wear a tallit to shul, and can he cover his head with the tallit during Shomana Esrei and other times when married men cover their heads?
Answer:
It is permitted. Although there are different minhagim, there is no inherent issur for an Ashkenazim to wear a tallis, and there are many Ashkanazim that do wear tallisim during davening.
I give a blessing that the one who asked this question find his bashert so he can then wear the tallis gadol and be following the common Ashkenazi minhag. :)
And so do I .
