Paying someone who bought you pizza

Question:

Is one allowed to pay someone as much as he wishes because his friend was nice to him or bought him a pizza. This is not a case of ribit because no one is borrowing. if someone buys someone lunch can the person receiving the lunch pay the person as much as he wants? thanks

Answer:

If the pizza as bought for him as a present, and he is in turn giving him back a present, you can give someone a present as much as you like. However if it was understood that he will be paid for his buying the pizza, then it would be considered a loan.
