TEFILLIN IN LUGGAGE AIRPORT BATHROOM

Question:

Hi, I travel a lot for work and have no one to watch my carry-on luggage when I go to the bathroom. Am I allowed to bring luggage in with me? Tefillin is in plastic carry bag and 2nd layer covering of luggage. Don’t recall were I read it, that if covered by 2 layers it is permissible is that correct? Or for that matter any Torah books.

Answer:

This is a very common occurrence when traveling. You are allowed to bring your luggage into the bathroom with you, because the tefillin are inside a double covering, (the tefillin bag and the luggage). Nevertheless, if it is easy and safe for you to give it to someone to watch for you it is preferred not to bring them into the bathroom.
