Bringing leftovers home on shabbos

Question:

I’m bringing food to someone’s home before Shabbos. There is an eruv. Can we carry leftovers home after he seuda?

Answer:

If you will eat some of it after you get home it is permitted, because then it is not preparing for after shabbos but is being used on shabbos itself. Alternatively if the food that you would be leaving there would amount to a significant amount of money, (a few pieces of chicken etc.) and if you leave it there you will not be able to get it after shabbos, because you will be embarrassed to sk for it after wards, then it would also be permitted. The reason being because then it would be considered as if you are doing it to prevent a loss.

Best wishes
