Calculating Sheloshim

Question:

I cannot determine whether Pesach ended my period of Sheloshim or not. I believe it has to do with whether or not my period of shiva had already ended. The funeral was on Sunday, April 14. Pesach began on Friday evening, April 19. I believe then that Sheloshim ends on May 12. Can you confirm? Many thanks.

Answer:

Hamakom yinachem eschem b’toch shar aveilei tzion v’Yerushalayim.

You calculation is correct. The calculaton is as follows.

Since shiva was terminated because of Erev Pesach, that would make the count to 7, then another 8 days of Pesach, which brings it to 15. Then, the 15th day after Pesach, which is May 12 would be day 30. As a side point, the end of the shloshim for you, and someone who started sitting on Erev Pesach would be the same day.

Best Wishes
