A lot of the world’s chocolate and coffee is made from raw ingredients that were harvested using slave labor. What are the Halachic sources forbidding the use of cruel labor practices?
Answer:
In Jewish law, a slave master should not act too harsh with a gentile slave. in fact if he hits him iand injures him, the slave may be entitled to go free. On the other hand if a master treats his slave cruely, I am not aware of any laws that call for boycotting the products of such a company.
