Chatzitzah for hand washing after the bathroom

Question:

Hi,
I was wondering if you could help clarify something for me. I know that rings must be removed when washing Netillat Yadayim to avoid a chatzizah – does the same rule apply after washing hands after the bathroom and/or before davening (For cleanliness purposes, therefore washing without a bracha)?
Thanks

Answer:

When washing your hands in the morning, and when washing before davening, it is preferable to take off your rings, so that it won’t be a chatzitza, as there is a preference to be careful for “negel vasser” regarding the various things that we are careful about when washing for a meal, such a chatitza. Therefore, it is preferable to take your rings off then. When washing hands after using the bathroom, the minhag is that women don’t remove their rings.

Best Wishes
