Shabbos hot plate

Question:

I inadvertently left a pot of soup on the electric hot plate on Friday night. The hot plate was still on, and I put the soup back right after serving (I had it in mind) and was still yad soledes bo. The hot plate was on Shabbos timer and went off at 11 PM and turned on again at 6 AM Shabbos morning with the soup still on it. The soup had heated up when I found it at 8 AM. Would we be allowed to eat the soup in the morning?

Answer:

It is much controversy if it is permitted to put food on to a hot plate that will turn on afterwards. In retrospect, it is permitted to eat as numerous poskim permit it.
